It’s World Cup year again! And Deo Gloria has partnered with Verite, Christians in Sport, Christian Enquiry Agency to produce a full-colour Souvenir Pocket Guide to the tournament.

These booklets are a great way to introduce football fans to Christianity in a light and ‘non-cringey’ way. As part of a summer outreach campaign, they could be used alongside a programme of events. Some ideas worth considering are,

• World Cup BBQ – Food is a great draw, along with other attractions for a ‘family’ type of occasion like face-painting for kids and games like church pew football (using a beach ball!)

• ‘Big screening’ of Big Match – Does you church/organisation have a large screen and video projector? (remember you will also need a TV licence)

• Football Tournament – Hold your own mini World Cup. If your church has a football team, why not get them involved.

• World Cup Service – A great way to complete your programme of events by inviting all the people you networked with along the way.
