Outreach resources for churches to introduce the Christian faith to people interested in spirituality

A search for spiritual meaning is re-emerging in Britain, but people are not turning to Christianity and the church. If you go to high street bookshops you will probably discover the 'religious' section is now 'self improvement'. Body, Mind and Spirit fairs have never been more popular. There are numerous books, cards, magazines and shops which claim to offer people ways to harmonize the different aspects of their lives and achieve spiritual fulfilment.

On Earth as in Heaven outreach resources are now available to help churches introduce the Christian faith to those interested in spirituality. The resources are linked to the workbook Equipping Your Church in a Spiritual Age, produced by the Group for Evangelisation.

The packs of 8 Cards are designed to appeal to the user's desires and interests. Practical thoughts about a harmonious and meaningful life are offered, the spirituality of Jesus and the Bible is introduced, and ways for further investigation are suggested.

How churches can use the resources in outreach:

Postcards

These have thought-provoking words and a freepost response section offering a pack of the 8 Cards from Christian Enquiry Agency (CEA). The double postcard spend a week with the angels offers the Angelic Realm Cards and the double postcard supernatural - echoes of eden offers the Natural Realm Cards.

CEA sends the free pack of Cards with a personal letter giving ideas for the next step and offering further help, including prayer and contact with a local Christian (only arranged on request). The Postcards are ideal to place on church welcome desks, give to friends, use at mission events and Body, Mind and Spirit fairs, and - if possible - place in cafes, arts centres, etc, etc. Can churches be involved in follow-up? Yes - if 500 or more Postcards are used for an outreach initiative, contact CEA to agree a personal code to mark on each card. You can then find out the number of responses received and register for personal, local follow-up. For more details contact us. There may be people in the congregation involved in bookshops, gift shops or newsagents etc who could make the Cards available to people who wouldn't find them any other way.
