What is Contact for Christ?

Contact for Christ has provided a service to enquirers (aged 16+) and the churches in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland since 1976. It was originally set up to assist with the follow-up from the Billy Graham rallies. Contact for Christ continues its work of linking those wanting to know more about the Christian faith with a local Christian who is on our Register (Contact) and who may be able to help them. The Contact for Christ register is comprised of nearly 1,500 Christians drawn from a wide range of evangelical churches across the UK and Eire.

Contact for Christ is a unique service in that it requires all of those who wish to be a Contact on our register, to complete an application form and provide the names of two referees, who are written to and asked to complete a standard form. (Due to current legislation we are required to undertake this on ALL Contact register applicants and also renew the references every three years).

Once an enquirer makes contact with us at head office, we forward the details to a locally based Contact. After the meeting has taken place we ask the Contact to provide a short written report on how the meeting went and whether or not a commitment of faith was made. This level of accountability and feedback has meant that organisations such as United Christian Broadcasters and the Christian Enquiry Agency (among others) refer those wanting to meet up with a local Christian to us.

What Contact for Christ can offer your church

A central point for handling enquiries. Many enquirers are reluctant to approach a local church directly, often fearing that they will receive visits or be bombarded with literature. Contact for Christ offers these people the opportunity to receive appropriate literature with the assurance that no one will contact them unless they specifically request it.

A Freepost response address. Literature (subject to our approval) used in your outreach can use our Freepost address which often encourages a response. For more information, click here.

National Coverage. Those who respond to an evangelistic outreach are not always from the area where the outreach is being conducted. Contact for Christ is able to find a local Contact nearly anywhere in the United Kingdom and Eire.

An opportunity to be involved. We are constantly seeking to increase the number of Contacts on our Register. These people, not necessarily the church leader, are the ones responsible for following up the enquiries. Once an application has been accepted our Contact may receive enquiries from a variety of outreaches with the hope that the enquirer will become settled in an appropriate local church.

Contact for Christ is a ministry of the Deo Gloria Trust, a Registered Charity (No. 243305). Deo Gloria Trust is an independent charity which is evangelical and inter-denominational.

Some good reports:

Location: Nantwich / Source: On Your Marks

I met B. in a coffee bar and I shared my testimony with him. I pointed him to some Scriptures and gently explained the nature of the Gospel. He was friendly and interested and talked about his Anglican background. The free grace of God was a new concept for him. He said he would attend our church this Sunday evening. He was appreciative of our time together and I felt it was a good contact.

Thank you for referring S. to me. I telephoned him as soon as I received your letter, only to find that I already knew him! (Although I did not have his telephone No. previously.) His flat is, literally, just round the corner from our church. He has been attending our evening services and I have been invited back to his flat with him after one meeting. His response form will have come from one of the booklets I gave him. I will try to encourage him to come to the morning service, where there will be more people for him to meet.
